DATE kicked off in 2024 with two LA friends fed up with the beverage aisle. One was a diet cola addict, the other forced down gross "wellness" drinks. They needed a better option.
The answer wasn't in a lab - it was in heritage.
On a trip to Saudi Arabia, one of our founders was inspired by an ancient date seed brew used by desert nomads for centuries to stay resilient.
It turns out date seeds are a powerhouse: zero caffeine, zero sugar, and packed with fiber and antioxidants.
Back in LA, the mission was clear: bring this ancient wisdom to the modern world.
With a lot of help from their wives, they started in their home kitchens and obsessed over getting it right. After countless tries with formulators, they finally nailed a functional drink that actually tastes great: DATE, the first-ever carbonated date seed functional beverage.
Best of all, we up-cycle the date seeds, cutting down on food waste.
